I know that there are one gazillion recipes out there for fruit crisps. But, holy smokes, throw out all of those recipes and make this one. This is truly The Most Amazing Peach Crisp. This crisp is the perfect amount of sweet, not too sugary like some other recipes out there. And this crisp has the most delicious topping. Cause, let’s be honest, if a crisp recipe doesn’t have a good topping, it might as well just go in the garbage. The prep for this recipe is only about ten minutes and it is so easy to make. Seriously, you are less than an hour away from this incredible dessert.
Some peach talk first…
So the foundation of The Most Amazing Peach Crisp starts with amazing peaches. Can you make this recipe with canned peaches? Sure. Is it going to be “the most amazing”? Probably not. Use fresh peaches when they are in season. Even in Ohio, I can get my hands on some absolutely gorgeous fresh Georgia peaches. The only thing that is unfortunate about fresh peaches is how short their season is. If you want to use something other than fresh peaches, I’d probably recommend frozen peaches before canned, but thaw out the peaches first. Anytime you cook something that has been frozen, it’s going to add a little more liquid to your recipe than if you used it fresh. Now let’s get started.
Let me show you how to make this recipe for The Most Amazing Peach Crisp 👇🏻
Let’s make the crisp topping first.
Place 1/2 cup of unsalted butter (right out of the refrigerator) into a medium-sized, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the butter for 30 seconds. You want the butter to be about half melted. Then add 1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats, 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
Use a fork (or your hands) to combine the topping. You want a pebble consistency. Now set it aside.
Now let’s get to the peaches.
First, preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
Then in a large bowl, add 8 LARGE (or 10 medium) peeled and sliced peaches.
To the peaches, add 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1 tbsp cornstarch, 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tbsp vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir everything together until well combined.
Add the peaches to a 13×9” baking dish.
And now top the peaches with that glorious topping and place into the oven.
Bake for 40-45 minutes until the syrup is bubbling up through the topping and the topping is crisp and golden.
Let the crisp cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
Then dig in! Top with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
Wrap the leftovers (if there are any 😉) with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Enjoy!!
