Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar (packed)
  • 2 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Large Egg Yolks
  • 1 Tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 2/3 Cup AP Flour, spooned and leveled (not packed)
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda (heaping)
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1/3 Cup Chopped Chocolate + more for topping Use what you like
  • Flaky Sea Salt (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large, microwaveable bowl, soften your butter in the microwave until almost melted. Using a rubber spatula, smash up the butter.
  • Add both sugars, stirring until creamy. Then add the yolks and vanilla and stir until combined.
  • Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. (Make sure that the flour is spooned and leveled, not packed). Stir everything together until combined and all of the flour is incorporated.
  • Add the chopped chocolate and stir. Use a tbsp scoop and scoop out a heaping tbsp of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. I made 6 jumbo cookies. You can make smaller ones, whatever your preference.
  • Top the dough balls with extra pieces of the chopped chocolate. Bake until the edges are slightly crisp and the middles are still soft. Will look a little underdone. Jumbo-sized cookies took about 13 minutes.
  • Let the cookies sit on the hot baking sheet for at least 5 minutes before removing. Top with flaky sea salt, if desired (optional). Enjoy!!

Notes

**Note: 6 Jumbo cookies too much? This recipe is incredibly easy to reduce. Simply halve the ingredients- 2 tbsp butter, 1/8 cup brown sugar, 1 tbsp granulated sugar, 1 large egg yolk, 1/2 tsp vanilla, 1/3 cup flour, 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp salt, eyeball the chocolate. It’s also easy to double. Just sayin’. 😉
