After making these Garlic Parmesan Ciabatta Croutons, I don’t think that I‘ll ever buy croutons again. Holy smokes these things are incredible! Let me just tell you now- and this is not an exaggeration- there is NO competition between homemade croutons and store-bought croutons. Have you ever made your own? They’re insanely easy to make.
There is one downfall to making these delicious, golden nuggets… they may or may not make it to your salad. You’ll try one, fresh out of the oven. Harmless enough, right? Nope. Sixteen croutons later and you start to panic about there not being enough for the salad that you made the damn croutons for in the first place. Haha! Or at least, that’s the predicament that I found myself in.
Let me show you how I made these Garlic Parmesan Ciabatta Croutons 👇🏻
Start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Add 1 LARGE loaf of ciabatta bread to a large bowl and set aside. (I got my ciabatta loaf from Sam’s Club. It’s large and in charge. You could also use 2 regular sized loaves.)
In a small bowl, combine 6 tbsp of olive oil, 4 tbsp of melted butter, 2 tbsp of parmesan cheese (the powdered kind), 1 tbsp of lemon zest, 1 tbsp dried parsley, 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp black pepper.
Pour the oil-butter mixture over the cubed bread and gently toss with a rubber spatula until all of the bread is coated.
Dump the bread out onto the prepared baking sheet. Make sure that you scrape out any oil-goodness left behind out onto the baking sheet.
Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until the croutons are deeply golden and crispy, without over-baking. Stir the croutons about every 7 minutes. They should look like this when they’re done 👇🏻
Let the croutons sit on the hot baking sheet to cool down for a few minutes before devouring. Hopefully, they make it to your salad… because they are so incredibly delicious that you can’t stop eating them.
Enjoy!!
